Company History
Owned and Operated by brothers Terry and Ronald Marcus, Marcus Enterprises is committed to achieving leadership in the development and residential construction industry. Since 1963, Marcus Enterprises has continued to design, build, and enhance the already natural beauty of Jefferson County, West Virginia with such previous projects as Belvedere Heights, Cloverdale Heights, and currently Briar Run Estates. The latter two of the aforementioned developments, Cloverdale Heights and Briar Run Estates, were both voted “Best Residential Development in West Virginia”.


The Marcus brothers also own and operate the Turf Motel and Rib Room located in downtown Charles Town, West Virginia. Established in 1955 by late president, Charles C. Marcus, the Turf has become a Charles Town landmark with its huge 1950’s era neon sign and the most succulent prime rib around. This family owned and operated business has deluxe accommodations to suit every need and budget and is conveniently located next to the Charles Town Races and Slots. 1952- Founding father, Charles C. Marcus, opens the Southern Motel on March 1 in Charles Town

1954- Mr. Marcus opens the Turf Motel, Dining Room, and Lounge in Charles Town with the continuous operation under the Marcus Family until present.

1963- Belvedere Heights subdivision, the first subdivision in Jefferson County on fifty ½ acre lots with Marcus Enterprises constructing 40 houses.

1969- Orchard Hills subdivision in nearby Ranson included 220 ¼ acre lots with Marcus Enterprises constructing 175 houses.

1975- Shiloh subdivision with fifty 3 acre tracts where Marcus Enterprises constructed 5 houses.

1983- Marcus Enterprises responsible for the purchase of the Charles Town Race Track. Marcus Enterprises acted as general manager for operation of track until 1986.

1988- Cloverdale Heights subdivision with 137 lots on one to three acre parcels. Subdivision wins award for “Best Residential Development in West Virginia”.

1997- Briar Run Estates subdivision starts with Phase I where 37 units sold out in less than 7 months.

1998- Briar Run Estates wins award for “Best Residential Development in West Virginia”.

1998-2000 – Continue Briar Run Estates Phases II and III which sold out in under 13 months.

2000-2005 – Briar Run Estates Phases IV and V sold out in less than 24 months.
